Spanish WebIF with German Firmware?
Hi!
After having used the German open7x0-firmware for several years, I've been testing your version for a couple of days now. Unfortunately, it doesn't like my usb-powered hard disk, but from what I've read here, that's to be expected. (The German developers also considered it deprecated, but it has worked for me for years, therefore it's a pity that it doesn't work properly now).
Anyway, even if I revert to the German firmware for the time being, I'd like to keep your web interface - it's nicer in every respect. So I'd like to know how to incorporate it into the building process of the German version. Do I simply have to replace make-incs/webif.mk by the Spanish version and edit the value of CONFIG_WEBIF_TREE in .config accordingly?
By the way - I've just uploaded a VirtualBox-VM based on Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop to Dropbox: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30049487/Dual-FW-Builder.tar.bz2. It's intended for building both the Spanish and the German fork of the firmware. For building the Spanish firmware, gui-build.sh is included (I hope that's ok with the developers here) and the necessary packages (gcc-3.4 and friends) have already been installed. You can choose English or German as the GUI languages on the gdm login screen and of course you can install Spanish or other languages. Howtos in German are included, if necessary I'll also provide English versions (pero no, no voy a escribir un howto en español porque seria demasiado dificil para mi y para mi teclado aleman). Feel free to use it. If you have any comments about that VM, please post them at http://www.open7x0.org/arena/showthread.php?tid=2669. As long as it doesn't get too complicated, I'll try to answer questions in Spanish, too.
Regards,
Thomas

Re: Spanish WebIF with German Firmware?
I think the spanish firmware is a fork of the german firmware, not vice versa.Nobody escribió:It's intended for building both the Spanish and the German fork of the firmware.

Re: Spanish WebIF with German Firmware?
Thank you very much for sharing your VirtualBox-VM and is not necessary that you translate howtos into english because here we have the wiki in spanish.
I've seen in german forum that you've achieved to compile webif in open7x0 firmware, but keep in mind the changes in VDR to work completely, as a new SVDRP command to rename recordings.

Re: Spanish WebIF with German Firmware?
Apart from the better looks, I was especially interested in streaming recordings. This works even with the patches that you recommended on the German forum (these two threads ARE getting a bit confusing, but I'm the one to blame for x-posting).
And, yes, in my current solution there seem to be some small problems on some of the pages in the WebIf, but fortunately, I hardly ever look at the EPG via web access.
I guess I'll spend some time over the weekend to explore the Spanish firmware in some more detail. If I run into any problems, I'll post again.
Regards,
Thomas
